As a participant in the AACP student criminal background check program pilot, you will receive an occasional e-mail from Certiphi Screening regarding best practices in conducting student criminal background checks. Best practices are being developed through conversations with other centralized programs and participating schools about their experience with our student screening program and their suggestions for improving the process.
One important best practice is to communicate to accepted students that a criminal background check is part of your program's acceptance process. Explaining the process clearly helps students to anticipate receiving an e-mail from Certiphi asking that they give permission to complete the background check, which should save your office time in that you will not have to field multiple phone calls from students with questions about that part of the process.
