PR: (CHEM 111 and CHEM 112) or (CHEM 115 and CHEM 116). Provides basic background in medical microbiology. Emphasis is on basic structure of all microorganism groups including bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa and helminths; epidemiology, immunology, and infectious disease.

AEM 341. General Microbiology. 3 Hours.

PR: CHEM 115 with a minimum grade of C- and PR or CONC. Introductory morphological, cultural, and physiological characteristics of microorganisms; application of microbiology to agriculture, home economics, and health.

AEM 401. Environmental Microbiology. 3 Hours.

PR: AEM 341 or consent and PR or CONC. Microbiology as applied to soil, water, wastewater, sewage, air, and the general environment. Occurrence, distribution, ecology, and detection of microorganisms in these environments. (Also listed as ENVP 401.).
