LEARNING OBJECTIVES Pharmacy Law Update 2025: Knowing the Current State and Federal Requirements (Knowledge-Based) • Explain new WV Board of Pharmacy Rules that have recently become effective. • Discuss laws impacting pharmacy practice that have recently passed in WV. • Identify requirements and updates related to the Drug Supply Chain Securities Act (DSCSA). • Discuss recent changes and final rules related to telemedicine and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Falling Into Focus: Advances in Diabetes Care for Pharmacists (Application-based) • Summarize key updates from the 2025 American Diabetes Association (ADA) Standards of Care and their impact on pharmacist-led diabetes management. • Evaluate antihyperglycemic agents, including newer and evolving therapies, based on their expanded indications (e.g., cardiovascular, renal, obesity, heart failure). • Incorporate continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data into therapeutic decision-making and patient education strategies. • Apply evidence-based, guideline-aligned recommendations to clinical case scenarios, highlighting medication selection, monitoring, and technology integration in diabetes care. Latest Updates in Immunization Recommendations and Address of Hesitance (Knowledge-Based) • Describe pathophysiology, mechanisms of infection and epidemiology of vaccine preventable disease. (I was thinking to bring here the herd immunity and the R0 number to explain how many people need to be vaccinated to hold infection of each pathogen). • Contrast the latest immunization recommendations by the CDC (US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). • Identify changes in immunization regulatory (or regulation) policies and mandates at state and federal level. • Identify factors for immunization hesitancy and contrast with literature.
