The School of Pharmacy has been an accredited provider of continuing pharmacy education since 1976, and is one of only two accredited CPE providers in West Virginia. The Office of Continuing Education is staffed with a Director of Continuing Education and a full-time CE Program Specialist.
The Office of Continuing Education offers both sponsored and cosponsored programs with state and/or local pharmacy associations and/or institutions within WVU such as the WVU Office of Continuing Medical Education, WVU Extension Office, and other such entities. The primary target audience are pharmacists.
The Office of Continuing Education provides approximately 140 CPE activities per year averaging about one to two-hours in length. The total participants attending these activities per year have ranged from 3,500 to 5,000 participants. All three types of programming, knowledge-based, application based, and practice-based, are offered. The majority of CE programs are knowledge-based and live since the WV Board of Pharmacy requires six of the 30 CPE hours for license renewal to be live CPE. In addition, the Office of Continuing Education is currently working to develop online programs to meet the needs of participants.
The Office of Continuing Education is continuously dedicated to developing innovative and relevant programs to meet the needs of WV pharmacists. If you have any questions please contact Michael Kurilla, M.Ed., CE Program Specialist, or Dr. Ginger Scott, Director of Continuing Education.
