The WVCDHI maintains a fairly extensive number of current information resources. Journals available within the WVCDHI include, but are not limited to, JAMA, The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Annals of Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacotherapy, and the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Compounding. Further, The Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Library is located one floor above the WVCDHI and has an extensive journal and reference collections, including databases such as MDConsult.
 
The WVCDHI has access to and utilizes web-based resources such as MEDLINE and other NLM databases, and helpful web sites from the CDC, NIH, and FDA. Up-To-Date, and the Micromedex® information system are also available online. Additional medicine and pharmacy resources, compendia, newsletters, and abstracting services are available in the WVCDHI. These include references such as Drug Facts and Comparisons, Lexi-Drugs, AHFS Drug Information, Meyler's Side Effects of Drugs, Handbook of Nonprescription Drugs, Drugs in Pregnancy and Lactation, Pharmacotherapy, Drug Interaction Facts and various general and specialized texts. Newsletters that the WVCDHI routinely subscribes to include The Medical Letter on Drugs and Therapeutics and The Pharmacist's Letter. Natural products resources available in the WVCDHI include, but are not limited to, Natural Products Comprehensive Database, Natural Standard, Review of Natural Products, Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacology of Herbal Products, and The PDR for Natural Products. Drugs can be identified using a variety of types of resources available in the WVCDHI including Ident-a-Drug and Micromedex.
