Message from the Dean
Welcome to the School of Pharmacy at West Virginia University in beautiful Morgantown, WV. Our vision is to be recognized nationally and internationally for innovation and excellence in pharmacy education, pharmaceutical and health-related research, and contributions to advancing pharmacy practice. Indeed in 2005 the School was designated by the WV Higher Education Policy Commission as a Program of Excellence. We are extremely proud of that designation, but we are committed to working every day to achieve a higher level of excellence. We will not be satisfied until we become one of the top schools of pharmacy in the country.
The mission of the WVU School of Pharmacy is to improve the health and well-being of West Virginians and society at large by educating students and practitioners to provide optimal pharmaceutical care; conducting vital research that advances scientific knowledge, pharmacy practice, and economic development; and providing direct and supportive services to patients, the community, and the profession.
The School is a leader in pharmacy education with a curriculum designed to prepare Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) graduates for dynamic careers in pharmacy, pharmaceutical research, health outcomes research, and related fields. Our graduates are prepared to play a key role in improving the health of this country by providing patient health and wellness education and therapeutic drug monitoring to optimize outcomes.
Our graduate programs prepare excellent Ph.D. graduates who are leaders in research in health outcomes and in the pharmaceutical and pharmacological sciences. Our faculty is composed of excellent researchers who strive daily to improve the quality of life for our patients and to discover new therapeutic modalities.
The students in the School of Pharmacy accept their responsibility to improve the health of their communities by doing community service in rural areas. They are the leaders of tomorrow and are recognized consistently for their commitment to improve the health of their communities.
I invite you to browse our website to see the exciting things that are happening at WVU. I am confident that you will see why the School of Pharmacy at WVU has been designated a Program of Excellence.
