As the third most populated city in West Virginia (1st on football game days) Morgantown has plenty to offer, no matter your interests.
Sports
Morgantown is known for its sports fans. In the fall, you can catch football games at Mylan Puskar Stadium, right across from the WVU Medicine Ruby Memorial parking lot. In winter, enjoy men and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, wrestling, and gymnastics at the iconic Coliseum. Spring brings WVU baseball season at Kendrick Family Ballbark, right next to the University Town Center Clinic. Summer also brings minor league baseball!
Arts
Not only is there a free art museum right on campus - the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center always has a stellar season with Broadway touring shows. Morgantown is also home to the Monongalia Arts Center, the Metropolitan Theatre, West Virginia Public Theatre, an amphitheater, and several museums (including one right in the School of Pharmacy where multiple residency preceptors are recognized for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic)!
Outdoors
The Mountain State has endless opportunities to explore including a almost 50-mile rail trail that crosses through Morgantown. Cooper’s Rock, a state park, is about 15 minutes outside of Morgantown and is full of amazing hikes and breathtaking views. Prefer the water to the mountains? Cheat Lake is a very popular destination for kayaking, boating, tubing, fishing, and jet-skiing. Don’t have a kayak? You can rent it right from WVU. WVU also has its own Arboretum with 3 miles of trails and you can find even more vegetation at the WV Botanical Garden.
Food & Drink
One of the most popular events in Morgantown is the yearly Jazz & Wine Festival, a weekend full of live music and wine samples. Local food is very easy to find throughout the area - you can get homemade meatballs at Muriale’s, unique international flavors at Black Black Burritos, or a huge ice cream cone at Dairy Creme Corner (a popular stop for our home-based primary care team)!
