SueAnn Woods, Ph.D., associate professor of occupational therapy, has been named the WVU School of Medicine Faculty Affairs Fellow for 2026 – 2027.

Woods will join a dedicated team of leaders in the School of Medicine Office of Faculty Affairs who are focused on supporting all faculty at the School of Medicine as they traverse the life-cycle of their career at WVU.

“I am honored to be selected to serve as the Faculty Affairs Fellow and learn from the Faculty Affairs and HSC leadership teams,” Woods said.

Woods brings more than 15 years of experience in higher education and clinical settings, serving as the program director for the Masters of Occupation Therapy degree. Her previous leadership roles include serving as doctoral capstone coordinator, serves as a member of the Working in Impact in Science and Health (WISH) committee, and in various other on-campus initiatives.

“Dr. Woods is an amazing addition to our team in Faculty Affairs—she is a tremendous educator who brings a unique understanding of the Promotion and Tenure processes in the Professional Programs at the School of Medicine. She is already helping us develop strategies to enhance faculty support and education surrounding promotion and tenure,” Christopher Kiefer, M.D., professor of Emergency Medicine and Medical Education and associate dean of Academic Personnel and Faculty Services at the WVU School of Medicine.

A three-time graduate of WVU, Woods earned her Ph.D. in Public Health, with an emphasis in occupational and environmental health. She received her master’s degree in occupational therapy and her undergraduate degree in human performance and health. Her research interests include upper extremity function, work-related injury prevention and disability outcomes.

As a clinician educator, Woods provides education in the Division of Occupational Therapy, where she serves as the Program Director of the Master of Occupational Therapy program. Woods is certified in hand therapy and lymphedema therapy. She serves in the WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Clinic, where she provides occupational therapy consultations for patients with traumatic and compressive nerve pathologies.
