MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Two WVU School of Nursing alumni joined the fourth annual Heart Health and Black History Month panel on Feb. 25 at the Mountainlair Gluck Theater.

Zakiah Bailey and Zyiah Bailey, both May 2025 graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, are now registered nurses at WVU Medicine Golisano Children's Hospital.

They joined the panel of healthcare experts, key community members and students from WVU and state-level entities to discuss topics related to heart health and mental health.

The free event welcomed members of the public and campus community. A question-and-answer session was held after the discussion.

Other panelists included Eric Murphy, MA – Mental Health Specialist, WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities; Kisstaman Epps, MA – Scholars Manager, West Virginia Area Health Education Centers; Tazanna Epps, MS candidate – Clinical Mental Health Program, WVU College of Applied Human Sciences; and Oluwakemi Tomobi, M.D., MEHP – Clinical Research Scientist, WVU School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology.

The panel discussion was presented by the Health Sciences Technology Academy (HSTA) Alumni Association and the Minority Association of Pre-healthcare Students (MAPS).
