West Virginia University School of Pharmacy professor and administrator Dr. Mary Euler has dedicated her career to pharmacy education. Now her legacy has been further cemented by a prestigious award in her honor. The Pharmacy Leadership Society Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS) renamed its Proctor and Gamble Leadership Award to the Mary L. Euler Lifetime Leadership Award. The first recipient of the renamed award received the accolade earlier this month during a virtual ceremony. 
"My passion has always been to empower and inspire the next generation of pharmacy leaders," said Euler, professor and associate dean of admissions and student affairs. "It is truly an honor to have an award named after me that recognizes a lifetime commitment to leadership in the pharmacy profession. I am grateful to the PLS for this recognition."
Euler served as executive director of PLS for 21 years (1999-2020). She continues to support the society as associate executive director.
"Dr. Mary Euler's continued recognition nationally speaks to her revered status within the profession," said Dr. William Petros, Dean of the WVU School of Pharmacy. "Her latest recognition by Phi Lambda Sigma is a testament to her tremendous contributions and dedication to pharmacy leadership. We are proud to have her as a member of our faculty and very grateful for the positive impact she has had on our students and the profession as a whole."
Before coming to WVU, Euler served for four years as McGee Chair for Doctoral Studies and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy and 21 years as a faculty member and administrator at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy. She has earned many professional and community service awards, including the APhA-Academy of Student Pharmacists Outstanding Advisor Award, the APhA Gloria Niemeyer Francke Leadership Mentor Award, the Missouri Pharmacist Making a Difference Award, and the UMKC's Mathew Wilson Award. In 2011, she was inducted as a Fellow of the APhA; in 2022, she was the Honorary President of the American Pharmacy Association (APhA). Euler is actively engaged in many pharmacy associations.
Phi Lambda Sigma was founded in 1965. Its mission is to recognize leaders in the profession, cultivate leadership development, and inspire transformational change.
