Join us for our monthly Geriatrics Lunchtime Learning Series designed to promote interdisciplinary teams and quality care for geriatric patients. The target audience for this activity includes physicians in primary care and all specialties, nurses, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, and all other interested health care professionals.

Disclosure: Information concerning faculty, speaker and planning committee relationships will be available on-site and disclosed to the audience from the podium. The presenter has disclosed that no commercial relationships exist.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to

-Describe the risk factors associated with falls in older adults

-Identify medications associated with falls in an older patient population

-Evaluate patient case to identify potential interventions for drug-related falls prevention

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by The West Virginia Geriatrics Society and CAMC Health Education and Research Institute. CAMC Health Education and Research Institute is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

 

Physicians – CAMC Health Education and Research Institute’s CME program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. CAMC Health Education and Research Institute designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category I credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in this activity.

Pharmacy – The CAMC Health Education and Research Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This knowledge-based RSS activity provides 1.0 contact Hours JA0006133-9999-21-032-L04-P receive credit participants must complete the sign-in sheet, attend each session and complete an evaluation. ACPE credits will be posted to the CPE Monito within six (6) weeks following the activity.

Nurses – The CAMC Health Education and Research Institute is an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation This offering has been approved for 1 contact hours. The expiration date is 2 years from the course date JA00026-22-21-356

Social Work – CAMC Health Education and Research Institute is an approved provider of continuing education by the West Virginia Board of Social Work Examiners. This program has been approved for 1 hour of social work credit. Approval number #490045.

Dietitians – Completion of this RD/DTR profession-specific or IPCE activity awards CPEUs (One IPCE credit = One CPEU). If the activity is dietetics-related but not targeted to RDs or DTRs, CPEUs may be claimed which are commensurate with participation in contact hours (One 60 minute hour = 1 CPEU) RD’s and DTRs are to select activity type 102 in their Activity Log. Performance Indicator selection is at the learner’s discretion.

Psychologists – 1 credit hour. Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibly for the content of the programs.
