The West Virginia University School of Dentistry welcomed Vince Genatempo in the role of Professional Technologist 3, effective Oct. 27. Genatempo joins the school after serving on the university’s central Information Technology Services team.
In his role, Genatempo will provide advanced support for students, faculty, and staff in academic units at the school and clinical units at WVU Dental, the clinical practice component of the School of Dentistry offering care from faculty, resident and student dentists. Among other responsibilities, he will ensure data security and compliance with university, state, and federal regulations, such as HIPAA, and support technologies used in the digital dentistry program, which allows for enhanced learning opportunities for students and improved outcomes for patients.
Genatempo brings nearly a decade of experience to his new role. Most recently, he served WVU as Professional Technologist 1, providing campus-wide deskside computer support, resolving and coordinating computer hardware/software problems, and troubleshooting various issues involving IT equipment to ensure an efficient learning and working environment.
Prior to his roles at WVU, Genatempo worked as an IT network analyst and IT support analyst for the County of Chippewa in Wisconsin, computer operations technician at home improvement retail chain Menards, and group enrollment specialist at health insurance and health care services company UnitedHealth Group.
A native of Wisconsin, Genatempo is a graduate of Chippewa Valley Technical College and holds several IT certifications.
He and his wife, Kirsten, are passionate about outdoor activities like hiking, biking, kayaking, and camping, and they have enjoyed many incredible experiences since moving to the Mountain State.
