1) Why did you choose WVU?

I had a wonderful undergraduate experience here at WVU, so I couldn’t imagine choosing any other university to begin my graduate career. As a native of the state, I also felt that the School of Dentistry’s mission and values aligned well with what I hope to accomplish as a dental practitioner: serving the residents of West Virginia by providing excellent dental care.

2) What is your favorite activity?

I’ve always enjoyed playing sports, especially basketball and volleyball. I also enjoy baking during my spare time.

3) What is your favorite TV program, movie, and who is your favorite music artist?

After a long a day of studying, I enjoy the comedic relief of watching The Office. I’m also a big fan of musicals, so I would name Grease as my favorite movie. My favorite music artists are Taylor Swift and Frankie Valli.

4) Who has been your greatest influence in your life, other than a family member, and why?

My undergraduate advisor, Dr. Randall Bryner has been a major influence in my life. When discussing potential careers in healthcare, he was one of the first people to encourage me to consider dentistry. As my professor, he also challenged me academically, and motivated me to continually improve as a student.

5) If you could be anyone, other than yourself, who would that be and why?

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge. I really admire her ambition and desire to serve others through her various charity initiatives. I also love her sense of fashion!

6) What are your biggest worries about coming to the WVU dental school this fall?

I’m anxious about finding a study routine that works for me, while also trying to balance exercising and spending time with my family.

7) How do you deal with stress?

I enjoy working out when I’m stressed. I love taking exercise classes at the rec center because the classes are very challenging, and they also allow me to spend time with friends.

8) If you could change the world, what would you do?

I would help reform the public education system. Education is something I feel very passionate about. I believe each student deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and self-improvement.
