Department of Clinical Pharmacy

Charleston Division

The School of Pharmacy began its program at the Charleston Division of the HSC in 1977. Presently, there are eight faculty members associated with the Charleston Division. Their patient care practices are in community pharmacy, family medicine, internal medicine, critical care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and poisoning/toxicology. Five of the faculty members and two staff members have offices at the Charleston Division of the WVU HSC, adjacent to the Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Memorial Hospital. This includes the Directors of the Wigner Institute for Advanced Pharmacy Practice, Education and Research; the WV Poison Center; and the WV Geriatric Education Center all of which are housed in the HSC Charleston building. Two other faculty members are located at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV.

Charleston Division faculty members contribute to the PharmD program through participation in pre-clinical course work either in person or remotely via a variety of technology platforms. Charleston and Huntington faculty also precept fourth year pharmacy students during their Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotations.
