Two student pharmacists with a shared passion for fishing set out to raise awareness about the impact of improper medication disposal on wildlife and the environment. In collaboration with their student organizations, WVU American Pharmacists Association–Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) and WVU Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO), along with a Ph.D. student from the WVU Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, they organized a Fishing Derby on April 18 at Cooper’s Rock Lake.

The event brought community members together for a day of friendly competition while educating participants on safe medication disposal practices. Proceeds from the derby will support future community health initiatives led by student pharmacists. Watch the video here https://youtube.com/shorts/8keztN5ayOk?si=r9P0jgxZefFJMplz.
