Fresh Hospitality, which operates restaurants at Evansdale Crossing and will be operating the revamped food service at the HSC, is planning a rapid renovation to the HSC cafeteria area on the ground floor of Health Sciences South.

The HSC cafeteria closed May 6. Remodeling will begin later in May with a target of the first restaurant opening in July. By fall, four chef-driven fresh restaurants will be in service. The group continues to solicit menu ideas at wvuhealthsciences@hsc.wvu.edu.

The HSC will feature healthy options including a "Farm 2 Table" concept "EIO & the HIVE." (EIO stands for Everything is Organic.) The space will also include a juice bar and a coffee bar. Conceptual drawings and sample menus will be circulated around the campus as the renovations move forward.

Once the current cafeteria is closed, food trucks and other temporary vendors will be set up on the campus to serve HSC and WVU Medicine over the summer. The campus Farmers Market will also be up and running each Wednesday starting May 25. Fresh Hospitality will introduce its new food concepts over the summer, including scheduling free tastings for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Catering service at the HSC cafeteria will suspend operations May 6. The WVU Dining Service is working to complete all outstanding orders placed with the catering service, including a number of events planned during Commencement Weekend, and is accepting orders for additional HSC events. Effective immediately, catering is available from the Fresh Hospitality’s Evansdale Crossing restaurants.

Catering service at WVU Medicine will continue without interruption; only the HSC cafeteria is suspending operations.
