Michael D. Newton, Pharm.D., BCOP

BIOSKETCH

Michael Newton, PharmD, BCOP is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and Clinical Specialist in Hematology/Oncology at West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, West Virginia. Dr. Newton earned his BS in pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degree at WVU. He subsequently completed a specialty residency in Internal Medicine at WVU Hospitals. Dr. Newton spent the next 7 ½ years as a clinical pharmacist at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, FL, an NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). During his time at Moffitt, Newton served on multiple committees and served as primary preceptor for the Oncology Specialty Residency’s ambulatory oncology rotation. He returned to West Virginia in January 2008 to serve in his current position. His practice interests include neuro-oncology, malignant hematology, pharmacogenomics, and targeted therapy.
